The Alameda County Board of Supervisors updated its prior eviction moratorium ordinance on August 4, 2020, to ensure that all tenants and homeowners in the county can shelter-in-place during this crisis. With rare exceptions, this emergency ordinance prohibits any evictions anywhere in the County. The ordinance gives tenants a 12-month grace period to repay their rent. This ordinance is set to expire 60 days after the local health emergency has been lifted. Violators are subject to a $1000 fine and may face legal actions.
