OVERVIEW

Gloucester County is developing the Microenterprise Business Assistance Program in response to the economic problems faced by small businesses as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. The program’s goal is to retain jobs and stabilize local businesses. Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to eligible non-profit organizations. The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds this initiative through the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG-CV). Amounts totaling approximately $1.2 million have been reserved for awarding qualifying firms.

Funding is available to the retail, restaurant, entertainment, hospitality, and non-professional service enterprises, including seasonal businesses with up to five (5) employees (full and part-time), as of December 31, 2019. Home-based enterprises and those determined to be ineligible will be excluded from consideration. The business must submit a statement describing the impact of Coronavirus on its operations and/or revenue loss, as well as how the CDBG aid will be used to retain existing staff.
