Rent Assistance NC
Rent and utility help is provided by the Housing Opportunities and Prevention of Evictions Program (HOPE) to low-income renters who are struggling financially as a result of COVID-19. During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this program helps to keep people in their homes by preventing evictions and utility disconnections.
The deadline for applying was December 17, 2021.

If you are facing eviction or your landlord has initiated eviction procedures, please contact Legal Aid of North Carolina at 1-866-219-5262 for assistance. In addition, the HUD Rental Housing Counseling and Eviction Prevention Program helps renters, including giving them contact information for housing counselors in their area.

In 88 North Carolina counties, the HOPE Program assists tenants who fulfill specific eligibility conditions. Along with the HOPE Program, the federal government funded 12 local governments and five Native American tribes to manage their emergency rental assistance programs. If you live outside the HOPE service area or are a registered member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, the Coharie Tribe, the Haliwa-Saponi Indian Tribe, the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, or the Waccamaw-Siouan Tribe, you should apply for rent and utility assistance through your local or tribal government.
