Do you require assistance with your rent or utility bills?
Are you unable to pay your Lake County housing bills because to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic? If this is the case, you may be eligible for assistance with your rent and utility expenses.
Who Qualifies?
To qualify for assistance, you must:
- Pay rent in Lake County, Illinois; and
- Experience a COVID-related financial hardship (job loss, furlough, decreased hours due to school closures, unforeseen medical or other expenditures).
- You must be in danger of being homeless or experiencing housing insecurity.
Your household’s current yearly household income must be less than the following amounts:

You can fill out the application online at: LakeCountyIL.gov/RentHelp. If you have any questions or need assistance with your application, please contact 211 or text your zip code to 898211 for additional information and a recommendation to a suitable agency. You must fill out an application and show proof of your income and expenses.
If you are accepted, the funds will be sent to your landlord or utility provider.

When your application is granted, the FERA supplier will pay you immediately.
