Homelessness Prevention

Access to affordable housing and prevention services is crucial for individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in New Port Richey, FL. Organizations such as St. Vincent DePaul CARES and the Coalition for the Homeless of Pasco County play a vital role in providing resources and support to those in need. St. Vincent DePaul CARES offers affordable rental listings and services specifically tailored to veterans, with access to rapid rehousing programs and case management. With a focus on preventative measures, these organizations aim to address the root causes of homelessness and provide individuals with the necessary tools and support to secure stable housing.

The Coalition for the Homeless of Pasco County also offers rapid rehousing and prevention programs, pending funding availability. By providing walk-in hours and referrals through CES and BNL, they strive to connect individuals with the resources they need to prevent homelessness or transition out of it. These organizations work together with community partners to ensure that everyone has access to safe and affordable housing, ultimately helping individuals build a foundation for a more stable future.

H.E.A.R.T

Emergency Rental Assistance is being provided to people who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of COVID-19 through a collaborative effort between Pasco County Community Development and several local agencies. HEART (Helping with Emergency Assistance Relief for Tenants) is a program that will assist renters using funds that have been distributed to Pasco County by the United States Treasury. All of the Pasco H.E.A.R.T. Program’s partner agencies, which are listed below, are offering to help pay rent and utility bills directly for anyone who lives in Pasco County and meets the program’s eligibility requirements.

Bills eligible for payment include:

  • Security deposit assistance

The following qualifications are required: you must be a citizen of the United States (or have legal status) and a resident of Pasco County, with an income of 80 percent or less of the Area Median Income (please see chart), and you must have been economically impacted by COVID-19 to be eligible for funding. The applicants who have been unemployed for at least 90 days and whose household income is less than 50% of the Area Median Income will be given first consideration. Financial Assistance

How about financial assistance?

As of now, there are no rental assistance funds available. Despite our best efforts to secure funding and support programs aimed at helping individuals in need with their rent payments, we have currently exhausted all available resources. We understand the importance of rental assistance in ensuring individuals and families can maintain stable housing and we are actively seeking alternative solutions to address this pressing issue.

We recommend reaching out to any of the following local government agencies, non-profit organizations, or community assistance programs:

Financial Assistance – Pasco County

PCHS – Rental Deposits – Pasco

Pasco County – St. Vincent de Paul CARES
